Summary of Major Functions:

Oversee and implement all aspects of nutritional programming for EDCare. Provide nutritional counseling to patients and parents in both adult and adolescent programming.

Job Types: Part-Time/PRN, Non-Exempt-Hourly

Schedule:

Registered Dietitian shifts: PRN as needed

Chef shift: 8 hours on Thursdays

Pay: $24-30/hour

Summarized Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Completes thorough nutritional assessment within 48 hours.
  2. Creates an individualized nutrition treatment plan with appropriate goals and objectives.
  3. Develops meal plans demonstrating diversity and meeting the nutritional needs of the patients.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge of food service regulations and environmental risks and enforces regulatory requirements.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge of and practice of clinical interviewing/counseling skills.
  6. Demonstrates ability to build therapeutic rapport.
  7. Facilitates educational and nutritional groups with expertise, demonstrating ability to engage, set limits and monitor the group process.
  8. Timely completion and accuracy of assigned paperwork: assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, etc.
  9. Provide continuity of care; communicating with outpatient RD's within 48 hours of patient's initial assessment, throughout stay as decided between ED Care/Outpatient team, and prior to discharge.
  10. Provide culinary coverage as scheduled: planning, preparing, portioning, and serving of meals. Verifying allergens and specific dietary needs.
  11. Stays current in expectations and practices guidelines set out by EDCare as they are updated.
  12. Providing nutritional outpatient counseling services, balancing time spent in OP with other Job responsibilities, if requested.
  13. When treating Outpatients, makes referrals to other providers/resources as indicated, including psychiatrist, individual therapist, Primary Care Provider, family therapist, group etc.
  14. Facilitate meal therapy with patients and families, including processing and documentation.
  15. Actively participate in multidisciplinary team, providing input on patient care and attending staffing meetings.
  16. Work with Program Manager and Director of Nutrition Services to assess the effectiveness of existing program and provide input.
  17. Assist with other programs and tasks as directed, including providing cross coverage on adult unit as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Nutrition required.
  2. Registered Dietitian or RD eligible, passing RD exam within 90 days of hire required.
  3. Experience working with adolescents preferred.
  4. Experience working individually and in groups with eating disordered patients preferred.
  5. Clinical conceptualization of the treatment of eating disorders and dual diagnosis preferred.

Physical Demands and Environment:

Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately. This position requires lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally and lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds rarely.


Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to:

99% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.
