Summary of Major Functions:

Provide medical care to EDCare patients in conjunction with supervising physician. Complete daily medical duties associated with eating disordered patients.

Job Types: PRN, Non-Exempt

Pay: $46.60-$52.88/hour

Schedule: ~10 hours/week

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Daily medical duties, including specimen collection, observation of patients self-administering medication, writing medication and lab orders, observing and recording weights, obtaining and documenting vital signs, etc.
  2. Order and draw labs, interpret findings of relevant diagnostic and laboratory tests; follow up with necessary labs, escalates abnormal results to appropriate medical staff (& notify clinical team?).
  3. Address patients' medical concerns and inquiries; listen and communicate by providing clinical information in a clear and timely manner; requesting information and resources needed to provide care.
  4. Complete history and physicals on new admissions, within 48 hours of admissions.
  5. Collaborate on care delivery by including staff, other physicians and management in both service and patient care improvements; treat all members with respect; demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct.
  6. Provides knowledgeable and thorough medical coverage in conjunction with other medical staff.
  7. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of appropriate medications. Prescribe appropriately and confer with Psychiatrist/Medical Physician as needed. Regularly monitors prescribed medications for assigned patients.
  1. Provides patient education regarding side-effects and efficacy of certain medications.
  2. Timely completion and accuracy of clinical paperwork according to policy: treatment plan, progress notes, discharge planning,
  3. Adheres to (& is point of contact for?) Infection Control standards for EDCare Nebraska: monitors, educates and adheres to regulatory bodies, including but not limited to The Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, & OSHA, regarding monitoring infections in staff and patients
  4. Responsible for maintaining medication exam room; ordering supplies, maintaining organization, determining supply needs, etc.
  5. Teaches Health and Wellness group once a week (?). Provides accurate and relevant medical education in the group setting. Documents patient attendance in EM
  6. Adheres to, complies, and demonstrates support for the mission and values of EDCare.
  7. Ensure confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment.
  8. Provide and accept feedback in a respectful manner from all staff.
  9. Other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Advanced Practice Registration or Nurse Practitioner (APRN-NP) in the state of Nebraska within 60 days of hire required.
  2. Possess DEA prescriptive authority within 60 days of hire required.
  3. Minimum one (1) year experience working as a licensed provider.
  4. Obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at EDCare required.
  5. Experience treating patients with eating disorders preferred
  6. Good oral and written communication skills preferred.

Computer Skills:

  1. Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  2. Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.
  3. Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within various software products.

Physical Demands and Environment:

Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately. This position requires lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds rarely.


Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to:

99% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.
